3.6m Vertec Vertical Jump Tester (Multi Colour, Pole Reset)
Height adjustment is done easily, via hand-twist bolt.
The stand is made from thickened stainless steel for stability.
This particular model uses a pole to reset the vanes after each jump.
The manual covers levelling, a calibration step, and the jump and reach procedure.
- Level it during assembly. The three feet on the base double as levelling feet, and the manual asks for a spirit level while the stand is being put together, or afterwards.
- Calibration check. With the stand set to 190cm, a tape measure should read 191cm from the ground to the 1cm vane. If it does not, adjust the feet and level it again.
- Changing height. Remove the two hand twist bolts, lift the silver pole against the measurement gauge, then put the bolts back.
- Test procedure. Measure standing reach, then a countermovement jump with an arm swing, and subtract one from the other. The manual allows three attempts.
- What is in the box. Base, three feet, red vertical pole, vane pole, four short bolts, four snap washers, four round washers, two hand twist bolts, two long bolts, two black plugs, long rod and telescopic reset pole. The manual includes clear photos of each step, to make setup easy.
Which Vertec to choose
We stock four. This is the heavy one at 16kg (though some can be filled with water, so can end up weighing more), and it starts at 1.7m, so it suits older children and adult athletes and a hall where it can stay set up. There are no wheels on the base, but it is not too difficult to lift and move.
How do I know the Vertec is reading correctly?
Set the stand to 190cm and measure from the ground to the 1cm vane with a tape measure. It should read 191cm. If it does not, adjust the height and level the base again by using the three adjustable feet and a spirit level, then check once more.
What is the jump and reach procedure?
Measure standing reach first, then the jump. The athlete performs a countermovement jump with an arm swing and swipes the highest vane they can reach, and you subtract standing reach from jump height to get the result. The manual allows three attempts. Height is changed between athlete groups or between standing reach and counter movement jump steps, by removing the two hand twist bolts, lifting the silver pole against the measurement gauge, and putting the bolts back.
