Jump testing is the largest group. The Vertec style testers measure vertical jump by the highest vane the athlete can swipe: a 3.6m model with a telescopic reset pole, a 3.8m model on a wheeled and weighted base, a wall mounted unit with 80cm of adjustment for a permanent installation, and a 3.6m model with infrared sensors and a digital display that removes the reading step. Standing long jump is measured on a 3.6m electronic mat that reads the heel of the rearmost foot.

For speed and agility, the laser timing gates run two or more lanes with up to 200m of signal range and resolve to 0.001 seconds over the first minute. Strength is measured by a handheld dynamometer reading to 50kg in kgf, newtons or pounds force, with separate peak and live modes. Body composition uses a 60mm stainless steel and aluminium caliper covering 0 to 60mm, supplied with a 200g calibration weight. Match workload is captured by a GPS tracker worn in a vest, which holds two hours of recording before syncing.

We fit the range to Thailand - Thai language instructions are included, and we stock what Thai universities, schools, hospitals and sports teams actually ask for. Most of the products include setup manuals to download via the website or by email.

Before you order: what each setup needs

We provide the set-up manuals to view online, so you can read through them and see exactly how the set-up process works. We try to be as clear as possible in the steps within the manual. Here is the short version.

  • Wall mounted Vertec. A permanent installation rather than a stand. It takes four expansion bolts into solid concrete, so you need a hammer drill and enough clear height above the mounting point. The frame is levelled before the holes are marked.
  • Electronic Vertec. The base is filled about half full with water through a stopper, to keep the frame stable. There are some simple steps to follow to adjust the digital display, depending on your set-up height.
  • Electronic long jump mat. The two infrared bars are held on by magnets, and those only grip once the supplied metal circles are stuck to the underside of the mat. Four to six are used. The digital display is easily re-configured whenever you move the sensor bars.
  • Anything that charges. The infrared Vertec, the long jump mat and the GPS tracker charge by USB cable. The timing gate remote takes a 9V battery and the dynamometer takes two AA cells.

Calibration is easy, but important

Results are only comparable between sessions if the instrument is set up the same way each time, and three of these have a calibration step in the manual.

The free standing Vertec is levelled with a spirit level on its three adjustable feet, then verified: set the frame to 190cm and a tape measure should read 191cm from the ground to the 1cm vane. The wall mounted model works differently, because the mounting height is unique to each installation, so you set the frame to 0cm, measure to 1cm below the 1cm vane, and add that installation height to every reading. The caliper is zeroed by spinning the ring around the dial, then its spring pressure is checked by hanging the supplied 200g weight from the frame: held perpendicular to the ground it should read between 15 and 25, marked in red on the dial - this checks that the caliper pinch pressure is within the standard range.

Common Questions

Which vertical jump tester should I choose?

Choose by how it is mounted and how the result is read. The 3.6m model with a pole reset and the 3.8m model on a wheeled, weighted base are free standing and move between venues. The wall mounted unit is bolted into concrete and saves floor space, but the range of readings is fixed to 120cm, including adjustment. The 3.6m infrared model shows the height on a digital display, which removes both the vane counting and the reset between attempts.

How accurate are the laser timing gates?

They resolve to 0.001 seconds for the first minute, then 0.01 seconds to ten minutes and 0.1 seconds to one hundred minutes, which is the maximum. The signal carries up to 200m. A set arrives with two gates, two reflectors, five tripod stands adjustable from 0.6 to 1.6m, a speaker, a signal box with remote, and an aluminium carry case. Three through eight gate configurations are available as options.

What does the GPS tracker actually measure?

It records position on a mapped pitch, and the app turns that into a heatmap, a sprint vector with speed and time filters, and statistics covering total distance, maximum and average speed, sprint time, and maximum acceleration and deceleration. The pitch is mapped once by carrying the tracker to each corner for about ten seconds. Data exports to Excel or TCX. Battery life is six to eight hours and it holds up to two hours of recording before requiring syncing.

Is this equipment suitable for research use?

They are applicable to a variety of types of research, depending on your specific needs and requirements for accuracy eg. a Vertec is not equivalent to a force plate, but if the research calls for a Vertec, then there are multiple suitable options. For teams wanting to track performance metrics, they may prioritize convenience, lower cost and immediate feedback for example. The caliper manual includes the full Jackson and Pollock seven site method, including where to take each fold measurement and the separate male and female body fat formulas. The Vertec manual sets out the standing reach and countermovement jump procedure with a maximum of three attempts. The long jump mat manual specifies best of three and invalidates an attempt where the athlete falls backwards.

How long does delivery take, and can I return an item?

Delivery within Thailand takes one to seven days and is free. You have 30 days from delivery to return an item. For a change of mind or a swap the customer pays the return postage. If an item arrives faulty or is not what was ordered, we handle it, and we try to be reasonable about problems.
