- Painted Aluminum Alloy
- Infrared Sensors
- Wheeled Base
- Weighted Base
- Height Adjustment: 1.5-3.6m
3.6m Electronic Vertec Vertical Jump Tester (Infrared, Digital Display)
Height adjustment is done easily, via pull-spring button.
The stand is made from painted aluminum alloy for stability, with a weighted base (water filled), and wheels for moving it around.
The digital display is easy to use, with settings including: Power on/off, Voice output on/off, and Set Stand Height Setting.
The electronic model reads the jump off infrared sensors instead of coloured vanes, so nothing is counted by eye and nothing is reset between attempts. A few things are worth knowing up front.
- The base is filled with water. Roughly half full or more, through a stopper that is prised open. Leaving it empty would risk the stand falling over. It ships light and is weighted on site, and the base is wheeled so it can still be moved once filled.
- The device can measure from 150 to 360cm by adjusting the stand in 2 ways. 150 to 220cm is set on the black pole. Above 220cm, the black pole must be left at 220cm, and the red pole can be adjusted up to the 320cm setting. When set at 320cm, the sensor bar can read values from 320 to 360cm, as the sensor bar is 40cm tall.
- The panel has to be told the stand height setting. Set it in 5cm steps with the top and bottom buttons, then save with the middle button. With the stand at 220cm, the panel then reads jumps between 220 and 260cm.
- Two safety points from the manual. Do not stand under the sensor bars while adjusting the height, to decrease risk in case it was to drop down if not locking it in place securely. Make sure the spring button is both felt and heard to lock, when adjusting the height - that signifies that it has securely locked.
- Charging. USB-C from a phone cable. Red light while charging, light off when full. The charging adapter is not included.
Which Vertec to choose
This one takes the manual reading and reset steps out, and immediately displays the reading onto a digital display. Infrared sensors and a digital display give you the height directly, so nobody reads a vane or resets vanes between jumps, which is what slows a session down when you are testing a whole squad. The reading range is 1.5m to 3.6m, on a wheeled base. The feeling is different than a model with vanes, as you're jumping with nothing visible to target, but you quickly get used to it, so taking the best of 3 jumps can be useful method.
Why does the base need water in it?
For stability. The base is filled about half full or more through a stopper that you prise open, which keeps the stand from overbalancing and falling over. It means the device is light to move and store, and is weighted once it is near to where you want it. The base is wheeled, so it can still be moved after filling, and the water empties out again if the stand has to be relocated.
How do I set the height on the electronic model?
The stand is adjusted in 2 ways. 150 to 220cm is set by adjusting the black pole. Above 220cm, the black pole must be left at 220cm, and the red pole can be adjusted up to the 320cm setting. When set at 320cm, the sensor bar can read values from 320 to 360cm, as the sensor bar is 40cm tall. Set the stand height on the display panel in 5cm steps and save it with the middle button.
